Blue VK63 Speedmaster Homage

This build takes the familiar white-dial, blue-accented Speedmaster look and assembles it from individual parts. The dark-blue tachymetre bezel and three blue subdials do most of the visual work; the matching rubber strap finishes it without making the watch feel formal.

Inside is a Seiko VK63 meca-quartz movement. It runs on a battery, while the chronograph has the crisp start, stop and reset feel that gives this movement its name. It is not a fully mechanical watch, even though the original video title calls it one. The parts in the video came to roughly $75 at the time of the build; prices and availability will change.

The most delicate part of assembly was fitting the small chronograph hands and checking their clearance. The step-by-step tutorial follows the video from the battery reset through the final bezel and strap.
