Green Filter W-221H

The W-221H is new, cheap and square, and the display is the biggest thing on it. That makes it a good candidate for the simplest mod there is: change what colour the display reads.

The filter is a sheet of coloured gel, the same stuff used in front of a stage light or a camera flash. Cut a piece to the size of the display, lay it over the LCD, and put the watch back together. Nothing under the LCD is touched, so the segments and the backlight both work exactly as they did.

Because the gel sits on top of the LCD rather than behind it, the green reads in daylight as well as under the illuminator. The stock grey ground goes green and the segments stay black against it.

It comes back out the same way it went in. The filter is not glued down, so the watch can be returned to stock in the time it takes to open the case.
